Here is the information you need to receive the
Tax Energy Credit For Your New Garage Door

Typical homeowners will receive $200 to $300 in tax credits on the purchase of a new qualifying garage door. And because it is a tax credit and not just a tax deduction, the homeowner will realize the full value in savings.

Last February, The President passed the American Recovery Act of 2009. Contained in this act is an incentive for people to make energy efficient improvements to their home, and your new garage door may qualify. Here is what you need to know:

"Taxpayers receive a tax credit of 30 percent of the qualified energy-efficiency improvements installed thru 2010 $1,500. Cost of installation does not qualify."

So, let's see if you qualify:

The garage door must be installed on an insulated garage.
The garage door must be part of the customer’s principal residence.
The garage door perimeter must have a means to control air infiltration.
The garage door must be installed in the years 2009 or 2010.
The garage door must be expected to remain in service for at least five years.
The door must have have a U-factor of equal to or less than 0.30.

Understanding these qualifications can be daunting for most homeowners, so below we've included a list of qualifying garage doors for the most popular manufacturer's along with the certificate that you can use as proof of qualification.

The most effective way to use this page is to save it and you can check any model you consider to see if it qualifies. If it is made by one of these manufactuerer's and it is not listed here... it probably does not qualify.
